The Quick Guide to Benefiting from Article Marketing

Article Marketing is a fairly basic concept to understand really. It is perhaps the easiest way to get started with your online business. You do however, need to follow a basic set of guidelines in order to get the most out of your article marketing campaign. If you get it right you can start getting targeted traffic from the first article that you submit. The best part of article marketing is that it is both free and highly effective. All you need to do is write articles relevant to your particular market niche, or have them written for you and then submit them to the various article directories. These are all good reasons why you need to start an article marketing campaign.

For the purpose of this example we will use the following keywords and phrase:

Diet programs Weight Loss Food Lose Weight Weight Loss Programs Lose 20 pounds in one month

You should write articles based around these keywords and phrases mentioning these keywords usually in every other paragraph, try not to cover too many keywords or phrases with the one article as it is unlikely that they can rate well with more than 1 or 2. Don’t make the mistake of submitting junk articles unrelated to your website or product. Your articles need to be relevant and compelling enough that readers get to the end and follow the links at the end. They also need to solve a problem the reader has and give relevant advice and tips. This allows you to connect with the reader and take in what you are saying and subsequently make them more likely to take up your recommendations.

Your articles can vary in length but aim for 350 to 650 words. Make certain to read the submission guidelines for the site in question as they vary considerably from one directory to another. They may have a minimum and maximum number of words allowed for example. At the bottom of each article you will have a Resource Box or Author Signature where you have the chance to add a few lines about yourself. Use this space wisely to sell yourself by offering more information and advice via a link to your website. Someone reads your article, likes the information and wants to know more. They click on the link to your website so they can find more interesting, relevant information. You have an extra visitor to your site. If you want this method of marketing to be as effective as possible then we would suggest submitting 5 to 10 articles per week, relating to as many of your keywords as possible.

Aim to write compelling and informative articles that grab your readers attention. Invariably these types of articles will help you to grow your traffic to your website. Although it is unlikely that your first article will deliver you instant riches, as part of a consistent and regular article campaign it will deliver you traffic over time. The bonus with article marketing is that with the increase in backlinks and page rank, which will no doubt take some time, you will also see an increase in so called “organic” search engine traffic. This is one of the positive side effects that happens with article marketing.

There are various schools of thought about which article directories to send articles to, whether to go for quantity over quality or vice versa. In the end it is a personal choice and will depend on whether you are simply aiming to get backlinks or to drive organic traffic. From what I have seen the top article directories will deliver you the most organic traffic in a shorter period of time, but in the longer term because of the sheer volume of articles in these directories they may also fall off the index faster.
