Don’t Be Afraid Of Public Speaking!

Can you still remember the first time you got started in business and presented a speech in front of lots of people? Did you lose your breath suddenly? Did you slur your words or lose all your thoughts? If you do agree with the above, you need ton of public speaking help!

Years have passed and I am now very confident to be on stage that I sometimes even beg for opportunities to give a speech. I sincerely enjoy speaking in front of others and would love to help those who are scared to give speeches.

I began to love public speaking after I underwent a couple of incidents. I tried to go to conferences and some events where all there are presentations and workshops. I emulated how the others presented and learnt a lot of styles and techniques in presentation.

From then on, when I stepped on the stage to present, I tried to model their behaviors. Feeling comfortable with yourself, mastering concentration and having eye-contacts are vital for public speaking.

In the beginning, I felt insecurity and unsure of myself in front of people. I was clear about all the materials and content which I had to present, however, my thoughts were in a mess and concentration was lost when I was looking around the room. Finally, I broke eye-contact with all the people and stumbled.

Doing all the above would definitely make you look unprofessional on stage.

Instead of the above behavior, you should focus on one of the audiences until you finish a line or idea. This can avoid turning your thinking to irrelevant things. If you are able to do this, you can talk about your knowledge and experiences for a longer time.

With the above little trick, I am now able to keep my concentration throughout any presentation and to make adequate eye contact. I am therefore confident to speak at any occasion, even with a large audience.
