At the wedding, the center of attention is the bride. However, one of the things that the wedding guests look forward to is the grooms speeches. Because of this, the groom is filled with anxiety at the thought of stepping up the plate and delivering the speech before the public. According to a survey years ago, a lot of people are more afraid of speaking in front of the public than facing death, so it is not surprising at all.
When it comes to groom wedding speech, some reasons contribute to the anxiety that the groom feels. The fear of standing in front to speak is experienced even by the most dashing and confident groom. One of the factors is the expectations that the bride, the parents, and the guests show when awaiting for the groom speech.
The groom needs to deliver a declaration of his manhood as part of his speech. He is expected to gush about the honor and pride he feels after finally tying the knot with his love of his life. He is also expected to declare the commitment he just took to be faithful, protective and ideal husband to her.
Perhaps the anxiety would be lessened while the preparation of the speech would be less intimidating, if these expectations are to be removed. So what are the things you need to remember to have a memorable and sensible groom speech?
First, your gratitude to all the people, who in one or another, have helped to make the wedding a successful occasion.
It can be a bit easier to welcome and thank the other guests as you only have to mention what they have done on the entire wedding preparations. However, it is crucial when you are finally acknowledging the parents of the bride to thank and mention them. It is in this phase where you are to offer your testament saying that you will take care, cherish, and love their daughter for the rest of your life will be made.
This can be the most nerve-wracking part but as long you do it with honesty and sincerity to it you won\’t have a problem there. It is also a good idea to put the acknowledgement to the parents of the bride at the last part of the speech. You will make a sincere and heartfelt groom\’s speech if you place emphasis on the kind of relationship you have with your in-laws by elaborating a particular story when you were made to feel welcomed by the family.
It should never be intimidating at all because grooms speeches are supposedly an opportunity for you to show your honesty and sincerity to thank the people who made this most important event of your life possible. Through the speech, you also have an avenue to show your happiness and tell how relevant the occasion is for you. So, pull it off and be the same dashing and confident groom that you are as you deliver your speech.
Grooms speeches should never be intimidating at all. As long as you keep them sincere and simple, you can pull it off in front of them all.
